The American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, recently completed the reaccreditation process for GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA.
The sports arena, home of the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, joined more than 100 facilities across the globe in renewing its GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation during the second quarter of 2024. With TD Garden, home of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, previously completing its GBAC STAR reaccreditation, this means both venues for the 2024 NBA Finals have taken extra steps to prioritize the health and well-being of attendees and staff.
GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation demonstrates a facility’s commitment to establishing and sustaining a high-performance cleaning and disinfection program to maintain a hygienic indoor environment supported by knowledgeable professionals trained to uphold the highest standards of building maintenance. In addition, GBAC STAR Accreditation aligns a facility’s rigorous infectious disease prevention protocols with the latest sustainability initiatives, ensuring a resilient, sustainable operation.
“GBAC STAR accreditation was launched four years ago and quickly became the gold standard of third-party verification for facilities looking to protect their customers’ and employees’ health and well-being in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way,” said Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner, GBAC’s senior director. “Reaccreditation to GBAC STAR further cements a facility’s unwavering commitment to providing a clean and healthy environment and making a safer world for everyone, everywhere.”
